Totarol is a naturally occurring plant extract with potent antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Thoroughly purified after extraction from the Totara, a giant tree in New Zealand, this medicinal complex has antimicrobial activity, which helps in the botanical approach to dealing with acne. Propionibacterium acne, the bacteria involved in acne disorders, is particularly sensitive to this extract.
If you have stubborn, re-occurring acne pustules and cysts that form between the ears and the nose or mouth, consider visiting your doctor to have your sinuses and ears checked for infection. Totarol™ and Resorcinol extracts in this product are especially effective on oily/acne skin, with anti-bacterial and exfoliating properties. The keratolytic effects of Salicylic Acid helps to prevent clogged pores and combined with niacinamide, helps to speed up the over all brightening process, reducing the discoloration that often results from acne pustules and subsequent picking of them. The Clarate Serum is definitely your choice for problematic skins that can use clarifying and oil control, along with the brightening benefits. Sensitive or thinner skins may experience a mild peeling affect, leaving the skin smoother. In this case, patch test a small amount of Clarate under the chin to determine how often you can use it.
