Owner, aesthetician Joy-Marie Peterson has been
interested in cosmetic formulation and beauty treatments since she started
experimenting in the kitchen at age 12. Her professional experiences began over 35 years ago when she was an
independent make up artist - styling advertising shoots, fashion runway work,
TV, and
weddings. For many years she built her reputation and clientele working
for Nordstrom stores in Oregon, Washington and California. As a full time
make up artist for those stores, she represented Lancôme, Chanel, YSL, Prescriptives,
Borghese, de Markoff and
other top brands. With her first trip to Paris, to check out the fashion industry and visit the Lancôme Institut in 1979,
she began to focus on skin care. In Europe over the next 20 years
she found a great difference in the way American women focus more on make
up than skincare. It was evident that the majority of
American women covered up skin problems, while Europeans took care of the
skin and did not need so much make up. There were few
resources in the US for learning about skin hygiene or finding products that
actually helped reduce blemishes, remove all that make up or protect from
sun damage. Actually, until the 1990's there were only tanning
products, not protective sun lotions. To get the advanced training
she desired, Joy-Marie moved to Los Angeles to
continue her education in skin care in the 1980's. Using her make up skills to land
work in television and the music video industry she created a name for
herself in the entertainment industry. After graduating and receiving her
aesthetician's licensing, her first business, Joie
de Vie, was founded in 1985 in Los Angeles as a skin care practice. The name Joie de Vie is now for our

Expert Skin Care, the very definition of her work,
evolved again in 2007 to incorporate Green Chemistry, safe products and constant
research keep our skin care approach healthy for our guests - from the

As a skin care/color cosmetics retail business in the Portland, Oregon
metro area, we have been shipping worldwide and delivering
around the area for over 20 years. When employed with Nordstrom
stores in Oregon and California, Joy-Marie built a great business mailing
cosmetics to her customers who did not live near a store or simply needed
a product without having to drive to one! Learning the mailing
protocols from experts in these mail rooms, she was able to quickly
establish her own service when she opened Joie de Vie here in
Portland! We have used a secured online
shopping cart, Virtual Cart, for over 17 years and we accept Visa and
MasterCard, processing payment information through secure electronic
technology. We do not buy, share or sell customer
information. If an online order form looks suspicious we call
the customer and their credit card company to double check so we can do our best to protect
our customers from stolen cards and identity theft. Most mail orders ship within
48 hours of receiving
customer order forms online but occasionally there is a delay
. Because we order many "preservative free" items by
special request, they are created at time of request so they arrive to customer
door fresh as possible. This takes time. In the USA we normally use Priority Mail.
Express Mail and heavy packages will be charged more than the figures on our order form,
which are based on local Priority Mail fees.
Any shipments outside the United States will be billed
differently base solely on destination, weight and method of
shipping. A message will be emailed to you before we process your
order to let you know the specific charges. It is safer, in these
cases, if you request International Priority Mail which does require your
signature upon receipt of package.
Some products are hand made in a
FDA Certified, specialty lab so once in awhile there is a delay in shipping.

not tried our brands before and feel sensitivities or allergies might be an

become a skin cancer statistic! Wear sun protective garments and
products during the 10 am to 4pm hours you are exposed to Ultra Violet light.
You need Vitamin D3 but you can achieve therapeutic
levels of it from a combo of daily doses of gel caps and some sunlight in the morning, before the burning rays
develop! Gloomy winter days you will need to up your doses.
